This product has been discontinued... sort of. Why? First, the book itself is large and heavy. With the coil-bound edition, the covers would start to separate when folks were throwing the books on the floor (which, to be fair, probably isn’t a good idea in the first place). The perfect-bound edition doesn’t have this problem, but as with any big book, it doesn’t stay open until the binding gets ‘broken in’.
Finally, there are almost too many songs, for our tastes anyway. Sometimes less is more, as they say. To that end, we’ve put the finishing touches on a new songbook (Big Print Songs). It has:
- Over 200 carefully-chosen songs
- Symbols for each song representing the tempo and “jammability”
- Revised and corrected lyrics
- Lost weight :-)
Meanwhile, we have made the book available directly from Lulu.com, a printing company. If you really have your heart set on a Big Print Songbook, you can have Lulu ship one directly to you.
About the Big Print Songbook
Never squint at small lyrics again! The Family Tradition Big Print Songbook includes 372 songs arranged in alphabetical order. Extra large font means you can find the song and read the lyrics as easy as pie. Interesting historical information and commentary are also included for most of these traditional songs, as well as hundreds of pictures. See sample page and index of songs below.

We've got you covered! We're recorded almost every song in the Big Print Songbook as a "Song Clip"—a minute-long recording optimized to help you learn the melody, words, and qualities that give each song its unique 'soul'.
Here are some sample Song Clips. Note the "break" at the end of each song: this is there to give you a chance to try singing the song by yourself, or to practice playing melodies on your instrument. (It may take a minute to download each song, so please be patient.)
