Hi everyone!

Well, I just switched over to the new site I’ve been working on. You may notice that it looks nearly the same as the old site. However, I’ve rewritten everything “under the hood,” as they say. The main new feature I added so far is this discussion board, which I hope will be useful to many folks on here. We have many more features planned for the next few months, which I’m really excited about… but, one step at a time. :-)

If you have any comments or suggestions, I’d love to hear them!

Thanks, Luke Abbott

Hey thought I’d jump in and say hello. Anyone out there from the southern Iowa area? Can’t find to many people around to play good ol timey music with. I play guitar, always played tab until I ran on to this site. Still use tab but I’m implementing the patterns for playing by eaar too. It’s alot of fun. David

Hey there! Welcome to PlayingByEar.com!

Well, as usual, everything seems to take about five times longer to complete than first thought…

Since I started this thread, the one new addition we’ve made is the JamPool. So far it’s usefulness is limited to the greater Santa Cruz, CA area, but I hope to improve on that soon.

We’ll also be adding a blog pretty soon so we can keep everyone updated as to what’s going on… We’re also planning on having an “Abbott Gossip” section where we’ll blog about other stuff that’s not strictly AFM/Family Tradition/ToneWay related (kind of like what Kyle writes about in his blog).

And I still need to get that newsletter out… gaaaahhhh!!! :-)

Luke

I love your music. I’d like to hear a few lines of your rendition of “Hard Times Come Again No More.” Roger

I’ve been trying to transition from reading music to playing by ear. I just took the workshop at Grass Valley last weekend and it was perfect. Also find the songbook a great help. Thanks for making the effort to teach this way of thinking!

Thanks for the replies, guys! Quick updates to my last post:

JamPool: still has a ways to go but it’s now open to the entire US and has slick little “you are here” Google maps embedded… :-)

Blog: it’s online at http://www.abbottfamilyblog.com (I’ll probably just blog site and product updates here on this forum as well…)

Song Clips: are now free for the listening… all 360 of them! (So, Roger, your request has been answered.)

I’m gonna try closing this thread to encourage folks to start new ones…

Keep on pickin’, Luke
